No more tweed for 6 months!

Folks,

yet another fine day on the shores of the Rhein: remarkably warm (about 11 degrees), a freshly blowing spring wind and loads of sunshine. To even top that off, i could leave the office quite early today and went sale shopping to Neuss, another raid to Tkmaxx then. What first seemed to be a complete waiste of time finally turned into a pleasing journey: i could score a cashmere / silk tie, a fully uncanvassed dark blue cotton blazer with working cuffs and a nice floral/paisley scarf...summer, get yourself through the door, i am ready!

 

As mentioned in the title: last time for tweed today. This kind of fabric will not reappear any sooner than october.

Before i start to answer your comments: i seized my early work´s leave to reorganize my tie collection, separating them into two batches: the silk ones and the woolen ones (or mixed fibers)...in my eyes i have now layed a solid base, but there is a lot of room for improvement :)

A ride to Neuss...

fled the office at six, only to drive to bargain hunter´s  paradise tkmaxx to shop a bit with Mike of Inner City Style. Browsed through the racks and might have been able to score: came across two Corneliani Jackets, uncanvassed and pretty sweet, but too short. Some sweet quilted outer jackets made by Feraud, only size to big. A nice three button tweed cotton in rust/orange, but not in my size...when i was down in tears, Bäumleand the likes were able to turn that evening back to where it belongs: the top.

So, what i was sporting today...the charcoal and yellow works pretty nice together, no?

Paisley sevenfold, houndstooth silk and heavy tweed

Folks,

not much to report today. Three things are worth mentioning, though: first, the heavy tweed had it´s opening appearance (temperatures are rather low at the moment, at least in the morning). Had the chance to sport that green-blue-yellow vintage tartan tie i bought decades ago. The pocket square blended well with the colour of the bd shirt. Grey checked pants, dark blue and pink argyle socks and black suede shoes completed the look.

Second thing noteworthy: saw three deaf people talking to each other. Was really interesting to see them communicating: they were gesturing, making faces and laughing out loudlessly. They all had a pretty good time and didn´t care that others wouldn´t understand a single word.

Third: went to TKmaxx once again...didn´t bring as much time as it might have needed to sort the crap from the crowns...still, three ties made of silk. The greyish ones are made by Ben Sherman, the third is a Seven fold by Pierre Cardin...and it only cost me 7€. Couldn´t miss this one...

Two options for tomorrow evening: either attending an European Champions League football match (Schalke vs. Benfica Lissabon) or spending some time with the new client in his headquarter...well, if it was on me, the choice would be clear.

@MarcoBerlin: sounds like you perfected the prep look. Would love to see some pics :)...yeah, a shopping community would be great. As my closets are nearing their storing capacity borders, i will likely sell some stuff over here (jackets and ties, mainly). If you like anything, i am more than happy to have you steal it from me, just drop me a line :).  I´m a size 36/38 (46/48, S/M), so you might be lucky...
The db blazer is from ebay.co.uk, it is simply impossible to get stuff like that in the german bay. The tweed herringbone hat is from sweden, as you recognized...
@Julian: hmm...the tag says "Lapasserie", something No Name i guess. Fabric is 100% pure new wool. You don´t often see a db coat with non-peaked lapels, do you?

What a wonderful weekend

Folks,

i had a wonderful weekend, with my dad celebrating his 50th birthday, my love at my side, seeing my sister and hugging Mom and Dad, friends and relatives. And i even found time to elaborate on improving some wardrobe pieces of mine: i attached a pair of leather patches to the ellbow on the sleeves of one of my blue corduroy jacket. It´s the perfect eye-catcher for one´s wardrobe that will surely come to life in the upcoming fall. Took my quite some time to get it right (reversing the sleeves, cutting the lining, shaping the patches, punching holes into the leather, sewing it to the sleeves withought wrinkling the fabric....). After a good 5h, i finished and was pretty satisfied with my own hand´s work. Here are some week-end impressions...

Additionally, i left the office quite early today and went to Neuss, the home of TKmaxx. Every once in a while i am strolling through there to catch whatever i can get my hands on...today i managed to buy a soft cotton two ply Derek Rose red striped shirt for 12€ and a blue silk tie with red and green flowers on for 13 bucks. Not bad, hein?

And last, but not least: my lovely pair of vintage Florsheim Imperial shoes have arrived. Will have pictures of all three items here tomorrow.

For the rest of you guys: i had an easy start into the new week. Tings were pretty easy to handle today, the client was not demanding anything special and i could get out of the office at about six o´clock. And, oh boy, i wish i would have stayed...as ever, i used my free time to "just have a quick look at the local shops", with nothing particular in mind to buy. And there you go...holy crap, i went to TKmaxx and bought 5 ties and a linen jacket...

Best thing about the catches: the prize!! Originally, it would have exceeded 450 Bucks, and guess what i had to pay...only the tinies fraction ever...not even 100 euros...i am the best Sale-Hunter ever to wander on this planet, truly.

The Hunt

Werte Leserschaft,

heute ist nicht viel, aber einiges passiert: zunächst habe ich heute ein Kompliment erhalten, dass sich zunächst nicht als solches zu erkennen gegeben hat...ich gehe jetzt einfach mal davon aus, dass es ein Kompliment ist, wenn man folgendes hört: "Also heute siehst du wieder total surreal aus...aber soooo surreal, dass es schon wieder gut aussieht. Wie du es immer schaffst, Dinge, die eigentlich nicht zusammenpassen, zusammen zu tragen"....hmmm...well, ich schätze mal, hier wurde meine Innovationskraft gelobt. Dank an dieser Stelle an S. :)

Daraufhin habe ich heute einen heißen Tip von Flamboyance erhalten, doch die am Wochenende begonnene Jagd nach dem goldenen Vlies, resp. dem Sale-Schnäppchen, im Darmstädter TKmaxx fortzusetzen. Jener berichtete von lecker Tricker´s zum Preise von 99 Talern, das kann sich ein echter Jäger ja nicht 2mal sagen lassen, und drum flugs hingefahren (danke N :-)).

Nun, was soll ich sagen...die Tricker´s waren weg, dafür langweilige Grenson´s, Gant´s und ganz passable Floris van Bommels auf Lager. Gekauft habe ich aus ebendiesen Gründen keinen einzigen. Damit jedoch die Fahrt nicht ganz umsonst war, noch nen Hilfiger-Schleif abgegriffen...not what i intended to come for, but better than leaving with nothing....and that is the link to what comes next: thanx to F, who advised to use Google Analytics and to find out, where my readers probably come from...and here we go: from all over the world, not just Germany.

That has prompted me to continue writing in english, which might be a bad idea, when it comes down to language skills, but a good one to get this blog the most read in the universe...or at least try to. The thing is: all of my german readers are surely capable of speaking english, so they´ll be able to read it without problems.

I won´t be translating all the stuff i wrote before ´cause i´m too lazy to perform this tiring act....so just have a look at the pics.

This night´s ride to Darmstadt has brought up a Tommy Hilfiger tie in red with blue suns on it, reminding me of some naval signs...and today´s outfit, a display of various coloured bars.
