Tonight´s the night

Folks,

it´s gonna happen tonight and it ain´t gonna hurt (hopefully): we´re about to perform on stage, singing Green Day´s Good Riddance and Sportfreunde Stillers Ein Kompliment...and it´s gonna be legen.....wait for it.....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaary!

Best thing about not having to go to work? Besides from sleeping late, having an easy start into the day and enjoying the morning sun while eating breakfast? Sure, time to browse through endless cool blogs, being inspired and having the time to take pictures of my outfits with backgrounds constantly changing (no more office surroundings like book shelves and door frames)

The following one was put together in really no time, it all felt as if the pieces found together themselves...i really liked it, and so do you, i hope.

The following items were featured:
- blue vintage 2 button jacket
- white-blue striped contrast coloured shirt
- yellow blue window pane vintage tie
- Grey vintage 6 button blue striped waistcoat
- white silk pocket square
- white trousers from Zara
- a blue and red woven belt
- blue suede Chelsea Boots
- crappy facial expression

Outfits & Birthday presents

Folks,

i had a great night out yesterday, when all my friends were present to celebrate my birthday at the local Irish Pub. After ordering a round of kilkenny, i was surprised with self-baked muffins, one with a candle on top, and two very cool and charming presents: two self made pin buttons and a voucher for a pocket square. What more can you ask for when you´ve got birthday?

Back to charming presents: my ever so lovely gf bestowed me with a copy of Scott Schuman´s "The Sartorialist". It contains heaps of pictures of both male and female characters dressed extraordinarily well. From high-class suits to thrift-market coats, it contains a wide spread of different styles and ethnic groups. It goes way beyond mere inspiration...

Dealing with that style thing, i ordered "The Chap Manifesto: Revolutionary Etiquette for the Modern Gentleman" by Gustav Temple and Vic Darkwood, and a book of his styliness himself, Mr. Alan Flusser, named "How and where to buy the best men´s clothes". I´m seeing forward to receiving these books and taking a deeper dive into the world of classic menswear.

Screw me, you´re coming here to see some ouftits, not to read much about presents and stuff. So here you go: i wore the first one yesterday, being under the charm of Preppyness. The second one, worn today, was inspired by a picture by Scott Schuhmann, printed in the above named book. I just altered it a little bit, but it still came close to the original....

Sure you´ll ask yourself what i gave myself as a present? Well, not that much yet...besides that lovely jacket here, tailored by René Lezard:

I´m planning on a big thrift shopping session in Frankfurt this saturday, with the sartorial help of fellow dressmen...i´m really glad to have such style experts on my side when marching to "war"...

By the way, what do you think about these lovely objects? The first is a vintage Austin Reed tweed suit in perfect condition and great colour, the second one a pair of Grenson shoes. I think they would look lovely together...wish me good luck with bidding!

Farewell Alex...hello star singer.

Guys,

Alexander McQueen is dead. Most of you, i am sure, have known him to be a creative fashion mastermind. Seemingly he couldn´t stand the death of his mother, so he commited suicide...i guess he's better off with it...if the fashion industry is as well? I don't know...

Back from death to life: yesterday another gathering was held at our regular table at the Irish Pub in Wiesbaden...and hell yeah, screw you who missed it. I performed. Not in a fashion way (that's what i usually do), but in an audible sense. I seized the opportunity when the stage was empty, and sang three songs: the first was "This thing called love", followed by "Bailar la Bamba" and i finished off the crowd with "I feel good" by godfather of soul, James Brown...and whoa, what can i say: people were going nuts, but in a positive way. Although i´m quite sure i didn't manage to be in tune all the time, generally speaking they enjoyed my vocals. But as always, a man is nothing without a team behind him, so thank you Band (i don´t even know their names, they just happened to be on stage, too :-)).

Yet there were other great singers on stage...especially a girl whose voice sounded very much like Nora Jones'. She did a pretty good job up there, and i would have loved to duett with her...if only she left quite nearly. So i sneak up to her the next time, i guess...and there was another girl just as well, a thin blonde with curly hair. Hell, she had a crazy voice too, sounding like an mixture of Melissa Etheridge and....and....well, like Melissa Etheridge. You can here a sample of her further down that post.

Guys, check out the vids, and have a look at my stage outfit :)

If you ask yourself by now what the pack of ladies is bringing unto me in the following picture, be reassured: i´m stil alive. Today was "Altweiberfastnacht", the opening day of the carneval season. As customs have it ladies are entitled to cut one´s tie and you´re not allowed to withdraw yourself from that practice...knowing that, and knowing the evil spirits of my colleagues, i wore a never-to-turn-up-from-my-closet-ever-again tie...speaking quite frankly, i was pleased to have that ugly biest being cutted from my neck. Thank you ladies...my acting is very convincing, isn´t it?

Irish Pub, second time

Folks,

as i said once before in one of my older posts, everyone should have a favourite place to go with his or her friends for some chatting, drinking and having fun, even on a wednesday evening. Ours and mine is the Irish pub located at the Michelsberg in Wiesbaden, a cozy little place with a little stage that is open for everyone to perform.

Last time we went there, most of the "bands" entertaining the crowd mainly consisted of men, playing bass, guitar and drums. If they were lucky, they had one among them to, well, utter words in a melodic way (to call it "sing" would be euphemistic, at least sometimes). This time was different, though. After being summoned to stage by a solo-playing artist, a young girl whose name i forgot began to sing, and dear, she knew how to handle the mic!

She had a pretty good voice, and was well in tune with her band, or the instrumentalists...which is not that easy when you perform togehter for the first time...supposedly.

Check out the vids to see if i´am right on that...

Moin,

Unsere Wahl fiel auf den Irish Pub am Michelsberg, und hell yeah, it was a good decision.
