@David: you exactly are covering my point, that´s what i feel like, really. It´s allright to let people see that you put effort in your wardrobe. Imho, "trying too hard" only applies to people that are trying to copy a certain look, but look like wearing a costume...
As great as you are at combining colors and patterns, you're equally talented at keeping things simple. Here I really like the choice of dark brown shoes instead of black. Funny that you're wearing a houndstooth tie today. I happened to wear mine just yesterday.
